Piazza Leonardo da Vinci, Milano | 2 - 28 Settembre 2013

Nel mese di settembre sarà realizzata in piazza Leonardo da Vinci - Città Studi - l'iniziativa 'RiconquistaMi. Laboratorio Piazza Leonardo', un laboratorio di sperimentazione urbana legato ad eventi culturali e al disegno dello spazio pubblico, realizzato attraverso una collaborazione tra Zona 3, Comune di Milano e Politecnico di Milano - ricerca 5X1000 Smart Plan, Progetto Campus Sostenibile, con il supporto di Fondazione Politecnico-Polisocial e di Planum, The journal of Urbanism come media partner.

Nel corso del mese si susseguiranno momenti di intrattenimento e di coinvolgimento degli abitanti, workshop e seminari di sperimentazione legati all’arte, alla cultura e al progetto urbano nell’ottica della riqualificazione di Piazza Leonardo da Vinci, recentemente restituita ai pedoni.
L’iniziativa è coordianta con il progetto MiMuovo Ass. Sport e Benessere (1-30 Settembre in piazza Leonardo da Vinci) e gli eventi del 150° del Politecnico di Milano (sede Politecnico Leonardo).

Il Laboratorio si svolgerà nell'ambito del progetto RiconquistaMi | Un progetto per gli spazi pubblici milanesi, progetto promosso da Politecnico di Milano, progetto 5X1000 Smart Plan e Campus Sostenibile, in collaborazione con l’Amministrazione Comunale di Milano, i cittadini e le associazioni della città. Il progetto lavora nell’ottica dell’aumento della sostenibilità socio-culturale, del benessere in città, della creazione di sinergie tra risorse locali e istituzioni.

Experiencing the space and urban design. Impress upon time new forms to public space. Design workshop 4 CFU

A space of concrete comparison with the city
The Politecnico di Milano, the municipal administration and the neighbourhood council (Zona 3 in Milan) are sharing several experiences to re-design the public space of Piazza Leonardo da Vinci. These experiences resulted into the pedestrianization of the square and into the joint organization of cultural and sport events and initiatives.
Projects in connection with space
The workshop offers the stage for an intensive design activity to envision new structures and transformations of the Piazza starting from the direct experience of its spatial and environmental quality. The proposed approach explores the transfer of scenography, (scenography design and management, into urban contexts as a way to experiment design methods in the urban context as a way to experiment the spatial quality and possible transformation. In this perspective traditional forms of urban design will be integrated with competences of in choreography, and movement practices able to articulate spatial knowledge into the instantiation of a public performance.
Designing within the place
The Workshop will be conducted with the collaboration of the choreographer Maria Carpaneto, and includes talks and speeches by designers, experts in sound environments, and practitioners in social studies. The activity aims at producing two sets of highly complementary products: ideas and proposals for the reorganization of the square oriented to the short-term feasibility of the spaces and their functional sequences transformation in the staging of a performance of dance theatre which will be held in the evening on Saturday, September 28 as part of the program shared with the neighbourhood council.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE
• The workshop is open to students in architecture, urban planning, and PhD students;
• The workshop is free (materials will be provided for the construction of models and each working group will have the opportunity to print free copies of its final design);
• In order to participate the following documents have to be sent per e.mail no later than 10 September 2013 to antonio.longo@polimi.it ;

- Applications will be evaluated by the Scientific Committee of the workshop. An email will be sent as final response to applicants by 13 September 2013.
- The results will be discussed with the Municipality of Milan and the Council of Zona 3.
- To be definitively admitted in the workshop students are required to answer via e-mail to the confirmation of acceptance by the Scientific Committee.

USEFUL INFO
• The workshop will start on September 18, 2013 at 10 am and will end on September 28, 2013 at 18 hours;
• The workshop will take place at the School of Architecture at the Politenico of Milan, Piazza Leonardo da Vinci 22. daily from 9.30 am to 18;
• On September 16, 2013 at 10 am in the classroom MASTER (5th floor of department dastu) there will be a coordination meeting mandatory  for the students admitted to the workshop.
