Exhibtion "Paris : actualities II" at the Pavillon de l'Arsenal

940 hectares of projects Pavillon de l'Arsenal Paris. Exhibition Dates: from 20/10/2005 to 15/1/2006
The Actualités Parisiennes II exhibition - 940 hectares of projects - presents 37 development operations now underway in Paris*, i.e. nearly 10% of the surface area of the city. The exhibition focuses on four themes - regenerating the inner suburban belt of Paris, occupying the enclaves, extending the inner suburbs, restoring the postwar city - and shows how urban development in Paris is now carried out as well as the planned architectural projects in these areas. The visitor is invited to discover the specific characteristics of these urban developments: positive consideration of all urban situations, use of methods peculiar to each situation, and the sustainable development approaches chosen. This exhibition, curated by the architect Eric Lapierre, is both "a stroll around the Paris that will emerge over the coming years, and a tool for understanding and analyzing a way to create a city facing a contemporary situation in which we are now led to view the capital as the heterogeneous center of a conurbation whose destiny it shares". The scenography, designed by the Bernard Tschumi Architects Agency, offers a "multiple and rhythmic unfolding of architecture and city planning projects" in a landscape of models, providing an unusual tour inside the Pavillon de l'Arsenal. * These operations are managed and coordinated by the “Direction de l'Urbanisme de la Ville de Paris” Detailed Infos at http://www.pavillon-arsenal.com/.
