UNCHS - Istambul+5 - General Assembly Special Session,
New York 6-8 June 2001
From 6 to 8 June 2001, five years after Habitat II
Conference (Istanbul, Turkey, June 1996), the General Assembly of
the United Nations held a special session to review and appraise
implementation of the Habitat Agenda world-wide. In assessing progress
toward the Habitat Agenda commitments and strategies, all Member
States of the United Nations were invited to prepare a report on
national and local implementation of the Habitat Agenda, reflecting
the views of the government and of its partners.
Planum presents a report from the Special Session by the German
Federal Office for Building and Regional Planning (BBR)
("Istanbul +5 - An Interim Statement on the HABITAT
Agenda Report from the 25th Special Session of the United Nations'
General Assembly New York, 6-8 June 2001" by Hans-Peter
Gatzweiler, Jürgen Göddecke-Stellmann, André Müller), two document
by Fédération nationale des agences d'urbanisme (FNAU) presented
at the General Assembly in New York ( a foreword
by André Rossinot, President French Federation of Town Planning
Agencies, Mayor of Nancy and "Urban Government in France's
conurbations : issues and tools" by Marcel Belliot, Managing
Director, French Federation of Town Planning Agencies) and a
short links'collection.
