Territorial structure and interpretations of
the settlements growth
Nowadays the relationship between the centers is poor, except
for medium towns such as Narni and Orvieto. Terni and Orvieto
have hierarchical relationships with their surrounding towns.
The residents tends to settle down in areas where the environmental
qualities are not yet compromised. [legend] |
Local planning
The assemblage of the local plan maps shows that 25% of the
designated residential development areas and 50% of public facility
areas and green areas, are not yet realized, much more evident
is the lack of provision of the cultural facilities [legend] |

Infrastructures, mobility and industrial networks
Public transport (local buses and trains) is used by part of
the streams of commuters. Despite provision of good infrastructure,
the sizable private mobility does not go off in safety conditions,
because of the relevant urban sprawl.[legend] |
Historical and archeological landmarks
In the territory there are a lot of scattered historical and
archeological landmarks. The landmarks are as deeply integrated
in the landscape as they are in determining its layout. In most
of the cases, these landmarks consist of human structural components,
dating back to various ages. [legend]

Environmental features
The analysis pointed out, on the one hand, the various values
of the natural environment: very rich in water and woods; on
other hand it is very unstable, considering both the hydrogeological
situation and the land uses that are often not consistent with
the environmental features. [legend] |
Landscape units
The territory has been divided into landscape units, that are
structurally and functionally homogeneous. In every landscape
unit, the municipalities must follow work guidelines in order
to check the changes and to value the capacity in maintaining
the territorial balance. |
