Profiles of Italian Urban Planning

It is difficult to estimate the number of local authority plans produced in Italy from the country’s Unification until today (certainly tens of thousands) and it is even more difficult to bring together all of the documents that they comprise. The Rete Archivi Piani urbanistici (RAPu) – the Network of Urban Planning Archives - now holds over 3000 planning documents (one third of which are in written form and two-thirds drawn). They have been gradually brought together through the construction of an organisational network which brings together the activities of different archives and can be consulted through a web site (www.rapu.it) which contains the database, the digital reproduction and a catalogue. These make it possible to study various aspects of Italian urban planning techniques and themes in a way that has never been possible in the past, for lack of adequate and a sufficient number of sources...

Il Catalogo di RAPu

Il Catalogo di RAPu Rete Archivi Piani urbanistici segue la pubblicazione sul web del "portale" www.rapu.it, dove si trovano il database e la riproduzione dei documenti dell'intera raccolta digitale. Il Catalogo - un "libro di urbanistica" e non solo uno strumento a supporto della ricerca - offre un inedito spaccato di 150 anni di urbanistica italiana, attraverso le schede dei piani e dei documenti organizzate geograficamente e cronologicamente, un apparato di indici, un insieme di saggi interpretativi, un ricco corredo di immagini e un cd rom che ricompone in collezioni i documenti disegnati e scritti appartenenti a 24 piani significativi prodotti tra il 1889 e il 1969 per i comuni di Arezzo, Bari, Bergamo, Bologna, Como, Cremona, Fidenza, Frosinone, Latina, Macerata, Mantova, Milano, Napoli, Perugia, Pescara, Pordenone, Reggio Emilia, Roma, Taranto, Terni, Torino, Udine.
