The journal RaumPlanung is published by the professional organisation
Informationskreis f?r Raumplanung e.V. (IfR) and has become one
of the highly regarded German language journals in the field of
planning. Issued at present every two months each issue of the RaumPlanung
either covers a variety of planning subjects or focuses on a comprehensive
discussion of one specific topic. In either case, the RaumPlanung
tries to provide a forum for both the presentation of major developments
in planning theory as well as in practice. In addition to its articles
the journal includes a planning news section, book reviews, programme
guides and informations on the association IfR.
The Informationskreis f?r Raumplanung e.V. (IfR) was established
in 1975 at the University of Dortmund, Germany. Today, this nation-wide
professional organisation represents about 1.700 planners of various
fields. Its members work for public planning agencies on all levels
of government and administration, for private planning consultants,
housing corporations, planning branches of private businesses, chambers
of commerce, associations, political parties, at universities in
the areas of teaching as well as research and in other research
institutions. All members share a common interest in the wide range
of planning topics and their discussion.
According to the IfR's bylaws everybody interested in spatial planning
may qualify as an individual member. This also includes students
of the different planning schools in Germany and beyond. Membership
dues are 110 € per year. Students and members with a low income can apply for a reduced rate of 55 €. Young professionals (first two years) pay a rate of 82,50 €. Membership dues are to be paid at the beginning of the calendar year. Since the IfR meets the requirements established by law for a scientific organisation, the membership dues are tax-exempt. More detailed information on the membership is available on the homepage.
The journal RaumPlanung is free to all IfR members. In addition to this journal each member regularly receives updates of the membership directory.
Non-members may also subscribe to the IfR journal RaumPlanung at a cost of 91 € per volume (national: including shipping and handling), or 19 € per issue (29 € double issue; plus shipping and handling). For international requests please refer directly to the editorial staff.
