School mission:
The School provides a specialised historical, artistic, technical, critique and professional training in the field of restoration and promotes a higher and more advanced knowledge of the methods and techniques used for the conservation, protection and restoration of environmental and architectonic households.
The School programme is biennial with a limited number of admissions and compulsory attendance. Upon the completion of the School’s programme the title of Specialista in Restauro dei Monumenti (Specialist in Monument Restoration) with legal recognition is granted.

Admission:
The admission to the School is open to graduates with the following qualifications: Master of Science in Architecture, Civil Engineering (under provision of the law), in Italian Literature or equivalent degrees, and also to degrees completed abroad riconosciuto equipollente dal Consiglio di Scuola.

The entry exam tests the student’s knowledge of the school’s specific subjects, language capacities (English, French, Spanish or German skills) and evaluates educational qualifications, or publications.

Calendar:
First and second years provide an average of 800 hours of class, practical activities, surveying (mapping) and restoration internship and about 130 hours of compulsory workshops. Teaching is full time, 12 weeks a year, normally once a month. Courses begin the 25th of October 2004 and end the 31st of October 2005.

The application form for the admission exam is available in the office of “Servizio dottorati di ricerca e Scuole di Specializzazione”. The application period starts in September 2004 and ends on the 1st of October 2004.

The final exam is the presentation of an architectural conservation project, presented from different perspectives, under the supervision of several teachers.
