She is professor of Town Planning at the Politecnico of Milan. She has taught at the University of Florence and Rome; she has been chairman and rapporteur in Italy and abroad.

She was co-ordinator of research groups for the INU (Istituto Nazionale di urbanistica), CNR (Comitato Nazionale delle Ricerche), TEN TELECOM (DG XIII UE).
She has designed with others the master plans of Jesi (1984-1987) and Siena (1987-1990); she has drawn the rules structure of the master plans of Bergamo (1994-1995) and Prato (1995-1996); she was in charge of drawings and pictures for the master plan of Rome (1998-2001).

She has been editor of Urbanistica (1994-1998) and member of the editorial staff of the same journal (1985-1993). Since 1999 she is editor of Planum, the European journal of planning on-line, after having projected the initiative.
