DISP Dokumente und Informationen zur Schweizerischen
Zürich
Since its foundation in 1961, the multi-disciplinary staffed
institute ORL of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Zürich,
under the guidance of various professors and a great number of
the members of the institute worked on both, basic research as
well as empirical projects on regional planning.
Between 1965 and 1973 the institute was commissioned by the federal
government to put forward a concept for spatial planning in Switzerland.
The institute focusses its main activities on the fundamentals
of planning and applied research in urban design, regional economics,
ecological and environmental planning. In addition, it undertakes
research and planning in the public as well in the private sector.
DISP is
the center for documentation and information for planning issues
and is part of the Institute of National, Regional and Local Planning
(ORL) at the Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH Zürich).
The quarterly published journal DISP together with other services
rendered, were instrumental to establish spatial planning in Switzerland
between 1960 and 1970.
The issues of the journal DISP are mainly concerned with the changes
in spatial planning in Switzerland within a European context.
Therefore, it became an international, interdisciplinary and scientific
forum for public opinion, concerned with analyzing and debating
questions of planning.
