Istituto Nazionale di Urbanistica (Ente di diritto pubblico di
alta cultura e di coordinamento tecnico. DPR 1114 del 21/11/1949;
i.e. a Public body legally recognised by the Italian President
of the Republic) has been founded in 1930 in order to promote
studies in the field of planning. Inu is a cultural and scientific
Association of practitioners and public bodies with no commercial
purposes.
In 1997 Inu organised with the Ministero dei Lavori Pubblici and
the Comune di Roma the 2nd European
Biennial of Towns and Town planners and the First Exhibition
of European Planning with more than one hundred cities represented.
Inu edizioni is the publishing company entirely owned by Inu,
which publishes the main Italian journals of Planning, Urbanistica
.
Urbanistica was founded in 1932 and has been since then the official
journal of Inu. It has promoted and disseminated scientific knowledge
in the field of planning and urbanism. The journal is a forum
for communication between planning practitioners, teachers, researchers
and students; it is also of interest to an informed general readership.
Past editors have been A. Olivetti (1949-1952), G. Astengo (1952-1977),
M. Romano (1977-1984), B. Secchi (1984-1992), and P. Gabellini
(1994-1999); the new issue is be edited by D. Borri and W. Fabietti.
The Review is published two times per year.
Inu has promoted the International
Association "Planum", which is going to become the
owner and manager of the on-line Journal. Planum has been established
in 1999, and was officially presented at the 3rd European
Biennial in Germany (September 1999).
