Federation National dAgences dUrbanisme
Paris
The French Federation of Town Planning Agencies (FNAU) brings
together 39 public bodies devoted to planning and development
in France's major cities. These town planning agencies are non-profit
bodies serving as a point of contact between the relevant local
authorities, the State and other public-sector development partners.
The FNAU is an elected body and a special venue for dialogue on
urban questions. As such it participates in debate at national
and European level, putting its point of view on urban policy
and the future of our cities.
The FNAU technical network comprises 1200 town planning professionals
in close touch with local realities. The Federation offers them
a context in which to meet and an exchange network allowing them
to "capitalise" their skills, share their experience and combine
on group projects. With the assistance of its member agencies
the FNAU runs specialist clubs examining such issues as transport,
economics, habitat, environment, etc. Each year it organises a
"national congress" focusing on a topical theme and open to all
relevant professionals and political office-holders.
The FNAU is in constant contact with the major associations of
political representatives concerned with urban planning and development.
It provides these associations with all necessary information
and has special cooperation agreements with some of them.
It is also contributing to the growth of a shared vision among
political representatives and planning specialists in France's
cities. This commitment is underlined by its call for a comprehensive
approach to the drawing up of urban policies and an emphasis on
partnership in their implementation.
